We all talk about it, but it's nice to see a real world example. Niche topics are what make podcasting powerful. Podcasters can tackle subjects that main stream media (MSM) isn't interested in because of financing, audience reception, or just plain old "unsureness".

A week or so ago, Diet.com's podcast reached the number one spot on iTunes.


Podcasting also gives podcasters almost instant feedback on the popularity of the show. The tangible download numbers are far more concrete than the airy-fairy radio listenership and magazine subscriber numbers that are concoted by MSM. That, coupled with a relatively low investment, makes testing the podcast waters and easy jump to make.
