Santa Monica College is the newest entrant in the "let's throw iPods at our students" contest. While I give SMC full credit for being excited about the idea, they seem to be all over the board with how to best use them.
Some clips from the article:
- 25 low-income summer students will be the recipients of the on-loan iPods
- The downloadable material is for homework. It will not replace teaching
- Podcasting will be used in the remedial English and college orientation courses
- ...plans to have students create their own videos
- College counsellors want orientation students to watch portions of the show "The Office" to highlight communication breakdowns
Sounds to me like SMC needs to get a grip on their project before they start handing our the iPods.

The University of Calgary is going to use podcasting for 4 courses:

P.S.
I didn't make up Podagogy - you can see it around the net like at the U of Wisconsin for example:

Podagogy is a definate trend in educational circles.
